High potential and gifted education
Some students learn faster and more easily than others. These students may shine in creativity, thinking, leadership or sport.
At our school, we recognise and nurture these strengths early. We support advanced learners with great lessons and activities to help them grow and thrive.
Why choose us for your high potential or gifted child?
Recognising potential and developing talent
Our teachers find potential and nurture our students to be the best they can be.
Tailored lessons
Each student has different abilities. Teachers respond to each student’s ability by providing extra challenges and extension activities to keep learning exciting and engaging.
Rich opportunities and activities
Students can take part in opportunities to develop their talent in the arts, sport, leadership and more.
Opening doors to wider experiences
Our students can participate in a wide range of state-wide opportunities that aim to extend and enrich student potential.
What is high potential and gifted education?
High potential and gifted education (HPGE) is how our school supports students with advanced learning needs.
We do this through:
- effective teaching strategies like enrichment, extension and acceleration
- tailored support during lessons that stretch, challenge and inspire
- access to a wide range of opportunities both within and beyond our school.
Our high potential and gifted education opportunities
Our students engage with HPGE education in the classroom, in our school, and across NSW.
At Eschol Park Public School, we believe every child has unique strengths and talents. Many of our students show high potential, and we are committed to helping them develop their abilities in a supportive and encouraging environment.
Our teachers take the time to understand each child’s learning needs and interests. Using engaging, evidence-based teaching strategies, they provide the right level of challenge to help students grow and thrive. We offer a range of learning opportunities, including enrichment and extension activities, and acceleration where appropriate.
Classrooms at Eschol Park Public School are inclusive, positive spaces where students feel a strong sense of belonging. Children are encouraged to be curious, creative and confident learners who are willing to have a go and learn from mistakes.
Students work in flexible groups, have opportunities to take on leadership roles, and receive strengths-based feedback. Clear learning goals and time for reflection help students understand their progress and take ownership of their learning.
Our teachers regularly participate in professional learning to ensure they are well equipped to meet the diverse needs of all students, including those with high potential and gifted abilities.

Our goal is for every child to feel engaged, confident and proud of their learning as they grow and achieve their full potential.
Supporting Every Child’s Strengths and Interests
At Eschol Park Public School, we recognise that every student is unique. Learning opportunities are flexible and varied so children can explore their interests, develop their strengths and discover new talents.
Students are encouraged to extend their thinking and problem-solving skills through activities such as debating, competitions, critical and creative thinking activities, as well as STEM and coding pathways.
We value and celebrate talent in many forms. Students have opportunities to participate in school performances, and to showcase their abilities through activities such as drama, visual arts, music ensembles, choir and dance. Students can also take on leadership and representative roles through the Student Representative Council (SRC) and Junior Aboriginal Education Consultative Group (Junior AECG)
Our school day encourages curiosity, connection and a sense of belonging. Students can enjoy our library and interest based clubs at lunch.
Sport is an important part of school life. Students can participate in PSSA sport, training and coaching programs, and house competitions. Physical education lessons are differentiated to ensure all students are supported and challenged at their own level.
